Local non-profit receives grant funds - Daily Courier

GRANTS PASS, Ore.-Kairos Northwest was given $350,000 to put toward a new children's mental health campus.
The award was one of four handed out by the Meyer Memorial Trust to organizations in Southern Oregon.
CEO of the non-profit, Bob Lieberman, said the money came at a time when the need for a crisis unit was great. He said before this, the only option children in the area facing a mental health crisis had was the emergency room. "They don't have psychiatry. If the child is not deemed safe, by law they can't discharge them, so they end up admitting them into ... a general hospital, basically, when what they need is specialized children's mental health care," said Lieberman.
The Community Services Building was already built. The Residential Treatment Facility and Crisis Unit was expected to be complete next summer.   The total cost of the project was just more than $4.5 million.
